Vi är en självständig enhet inom utveckling av lastbilsmotorer för AB Volvo. På siten är vi ca 60 personer som bidrar med utveckling och provning av morgondagens motorsystem. Responsibilities / Main tasks  


The position includes analyses of components (turbo, turbo compound unit) and engine parts after test or failures. A high degree of thoroughness and understanding of mechanical systems and material properties is needed. Detailed documentation of the analyzed parts is essential.
The position also includes preparation of engine and components before the test according to Volvo internal systems. Mounting of measurement equipment such as temperature, pressure and speedsensor. Support of installation and service of engine in testcell.

We emphasize that you must be thorough and detailed in your work to find small deviations in the inspected parts. A strong interest in engine technology is highly rated.

Responsibilities / Main tasks  
Set up, calibrate and perform gas exchange simulations using in-house software (ICES), as well as commercial software (GT-Power)
Cooperate with the engine and component testing teams. This is necessary. and is a natural part of your daily activities since gas exchange model correlation/calibration is typically based on test data
Support and guide testing
Provide input for both turbo charger matching as well as dimensioning of other engine flow components (cooler, valves etc.)
Support and propose future engine concept by doing simulation studies in different stages of the development work with input from projects and other stakeholders
Document and present results and compile engineering reports
Continuously update methods and propose development of our programs together with the technology teams, well known as well as new. In order to ensure that we can meet the coming challenges

What does a CFD Simulation & Analysis Engineer at Volvo Powertrain Engineering work with?
As CFD Simulation & Analysis Engineer you will plan and perform complete CFD simulations of engine and turbo systems. You will analyze simulation results and ensure correlation with measured results, recommend improvements and present the results to the internal customers. Your work will support project feasibility studies, concept evaluations and recommendations. In order to find the best solution you need to understand the end customers need, taking all project and product requirements into account. Furthermore, you will contribute to the Powertrain Engineering simulation network, take ownership and develop certain models and concepts within the Volvo global simulation community.


You will be part of a very experienced and engaged engineering team with great colleagues both locally in Malmö and around the world. You will work in close cooperation with the simulation team in Gothenburg and we expect you to network and collaborate with other teams globally.

Develop and execute on a long-term business plan
