As an environment artist, you will work alongside other World Art departments to create believable 3D environments. We have team-oriented communication and the ability to articulate ideas and questions within the team and other departments, which means being able to give and receive constructive feedback to ensure goals are met and deadlines are kept.

Your responsibility will essentially be building the foundation of the world with a focus on things like architecture, geology, and foliage, among many other things. Using cutting-edge UE tech, you will collaborate with the Tech and 3D Art teams to push visuals to new heights.

Responsibilities

- Creating high-poly and low-poly models for environmental objects. Anything from structures, terrain, vegetation, etc

- Utilizing photo reference and or concept art

- Capable of UV mapping efficient layouts that work well within the project constraints

- Create game-ready assets that respect the technical limitations of the project

- Work closely with other departments, such as level design or tech art, to ensure requirements are met

- Make sure the assets built are usable in a world-building environment

- Help troubleshoot and fix problems as they arise

Skills & Requirements

- Previous experience with professional game projects.

- Portfolio demonstrating commitment and passion to creating virtual worlds and the assets within them

- Demonstrated modeling skills and experience in major 3D packages

- Experience sculpting using software like Zbrush

- Good understanding of the PBR material pipeline

- A good understanding of baking and texturing using Substance Suite and Photoshop

The role

The Game Assembly (TGA) är en yrkeshögskola i Malmö och Stockholm som utbildar spelutvecklare till en nationell och internationell spelbransch.

The Game Assembly startades 2008 och utbildar juniora spelutvecklare inom fem olika yrkeskategorier; programmering, grafik, animation, leveldesign, technical art och procedural art. Idag består drygt 10% av den svenska spelbranschen av personer som har studerat vid TGA vilket gör skolan till en stark aktör i dataspelbranschens ekosystem. TGA har under de senaste åren hamnat på topplaceringar på The Rookies årliga lista över världens bästa spelutvecklarskolor. The Game Assembly är även hbtqi-certifierande och bedriver ett aktivt arbete för inkludering och mångfald.

Om tjänsten

The Game Assembly söker nu en ny utbildare inom Leveldesign som kommer arbeta med att utbilda våra studerande på skolan i Malmö. Arbetet omfattar bland annat planering och utformning av kurser och kursmaterial, undervisning samt handledning av de studerande som tillbringar två år på skolan. The Game Assemblys unika utbildningskoncept bygger på att de olika utbildningarna på skolan tillsammans skapar spel vilket gör att du även kommer ha ett tätt samarbete med de övriga utbildningsansvariga. Du blir en del av ett engagerat team som tillsammans arbetar med att utbilda framtidens spelutvecklare.

Vem söker vi?

Arbetet omfattar bland annat planering och utformning av kurser och kursmaterial, undervisning samt handledning av de studerande som tillbringar två år på skolan. The Game Assemblys unika utbildningskoncept bygger på att utbildningarna på skolan tillsammans skapar spel vilket gör att du även kommer ha ett tätt samarbete med de övriga utbildningsansvariga. Responsibilities
Conceptualize, design, build, and script bespoke levels,
Research the vast world of Pandora to have a deep understanding of the IP,
Create design documentation based on the direction from the Creative Director and Lead Designers,
Design and implement areas of the game including layout, character placement, objectives, and other gameplay-related entities,
Collaborate with the Creative Director and Lead Designers to contribute engaging ideas towards all aspects of game design,
Collaborate with other Level Designers to define and refine level layouts to create an extremely fun, satisfying, and polished level design flow,
Actively participate in and lead specific discussions concerning design reviews and design issues,
Facilitate communication across other disciplines to clear dependencies and ensure a high-quality bar is met during each milestone,
Work closely with the narrative and art department to conceive and design environments that are innovative and visually impressive,
Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and enhance the development of tools and processes used in building our levels,
Share knowledge and mentor junior designers.

Qualifications
You have a positive attitude and are passionate about games and level design. You enjoy helping others succeed and are an effective communicator, which aids you whilst working within a large production team. Ideally, you sympathize with the values of James Cameron's Avatar, you look forward to technical challenges, and the thought of learning to use our Snowdrop™ engine excites you tremendously!
Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:
Proven experience within AAA game production, with credits on at least 2 shipped major titles,
Ability to design creative and interesting game levels utilizing 3D tools
(e.g. UnrealEd, Maya, Max, Hammer, Radiant or similar 3D editors)
Previous experience with visual scripting
(e.g. Kismet/Blueprints, Bolt, Snowdrop)
Must possess a strong working knowledge of game design systems,
Deep knowledge of adventure & open world games,
Solid knowledge of the game production pipeline.

Din profil
Vi söker dig om har deltagit i ett flertal verksamhetsnära projekt, i rollen som cloud-arkitekt. Vi ser att du har goda kunskaper inom både Enterprise-arkitektur och Cloud. Dina erfarenheter gör att du är van att fånga och dokumentera kundens behov, driva workshops, designa och rekommendera lösningar samt att implementera lösningar.

Vi ser gärna att du matchar flera av nedanstående kvalifikationer:
• +5 års erfarenhet inom Cloud, i huvudsak som Cloud-arkitekt
• Erfarenhet av att arbeta med GCP, AWS eller Azure + tillhörande teknologier
• Du har ett starkt driv, är bekväm i konsultrollen och har ett starkt kundfokus
• Talar och skriver engelska och svenska obehindrat

The Position
Avalanche Studios Group and its creative division Expansive Worlds are looking for a passionate and highly creative Vegetation Artist. As a Vegetation Artist you will be tasked with crafting stunning game environments. The ideal candidate will have experience creating natural environments using rule based distribution of terrain materials and vegetation with crafted or curated vegetation assets and terrain textures.

The candidate must feel comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team, who they will be working with to create astounding, beautiful open worlds. They will be expected to help drive the quality benchmark for the discipline whilst managing their time to match the project’s goals. As a Vegetation Artist at Avalanche Studios you will collaborate in an interdisciplinary team to create art for our world and all of its components. We expect you to take your assets all the way from conceptual mockups through modeling, texturing and making the assets performant in game.

Required qualifications

- Experience with rule based vegetation and terrain material distribution
- Experience with physically-based rendering
- A strong reel/portfolio with clearly-documented artistic accomplishments
- A great sense of technical know-how and functional problem-solving
- Excellent modeling and texturing skills using Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop
- Passion for making and playing games


Desired qualifications

- 3+ years of industry experience and with at least one open-world game shipped (or equivalent)
