The Position
Avalanche Studios Group and its creative division Expansive Worlds are looking for an enthusiastic and exceptionally skilled UI Developer to help improve and expand the user interface on our successful title theHunter: Call of the Wild.

Initially released in 2017, Call of the Wild has seen many successful DLC and content releases since then. Now we want to shift gears a little and focus on improving the overall experience of the game (stability, performance, UI) while continuing to provide fresh and new content to our loyal players.

As a UI Developer on this project you will work with designers and artists to conceive of and implement elements of how the game is presented to the player. Your work will involve implementing menu screens, maps, tutorials, in-game indicators or heads-up display (HUD), special fonts or other graphical elements according to agreed upon design specifications.

Particularly for this role, it is critical that you see your responsibility as delivering a successful end-user experience, together with your team-mates, rather than just handing off technological solutions to content creators. A game is only as good as the interface with the player allows it to be.

Previous experience and proven ability to work with multiple systems and stakeholders is a definite advantage. Finally, as with any other programming role, you will have to be able to balance functional and aesthetic requirements with technical requirements in the areas of performance, stability, memory usage, and interoperability.

Required Qualifications

- Experienced in C/C++
- Interest in the principles of UI design
- Experience in game industry

Desired Experience

- Experience with implementing a game UI in a professional setting
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Respectable technical art skill
- Previously shipped games on modern console platforms
- A good eye for graphic design

To thrive in a programming position at Avalanche Studios Group, you need to be willing and have the ability to learn new tools and workflows. You have a positive attitude and contribute to a healthy team dynamic by seeing opportunities and highlighting limitations in a constructive way. You can communicate to clearly establish common goals and align expectations. You are ambitious and are interested in pushing the boundaries of our user experience but can also skillfully balance this with the realities and constraints of the situation at hand.

Employee promise
We provide goals, instead of instructions, and the opportunity to do the best work of your career.
